Local boards of education prohibited from allowing schools or third parties to serve or sell ultra-processed foods on school grounds during the school day

"Ultra-processed food" defined as any food or beverage containing specific additives: Potassium Bromate, Propylparaben, Titanium Dioxide, Brominated Vegetable Oil, and artificial dyes (Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3, Red 3, Red 40)

Department of Public Instruction required to create a certification form for schools and maintain a public list of certified schools on its website

Prohibition applies to traditional public schools, charter schools, regional schools, and UNC laboratory schools that provide nutrition programs

Parents and guardians may still provide ultra-processed foods to their own children during the school day; effective for the 2025-2026 school year
