Mandates the State Board of Education adopt rules for AED installation, use, maintenance, and training of school personnel on AEDs, CPR, and first aid

Applies to all public school units including local school boards, charter schools, regional schools, and public secondary schools under the UNC Board of Governors

Named "The Rep. Becky Carney Cardiac Arrest Act" after a legislator whose life was saved by an AED in the NC General Assembly building on April 2, 2009

Effective upon becoming law, applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, with authority for emergency rulemaking to meet that timeline
