Department of Commerce will establish a grant program to help Western North Carolina residents affected by Hurricane Helene obtain commercial driver's licenses (CDLs)

Training providers receive $4,000 per trainee upon successful CDL completion; trainees demonstrating financial need may receive up to $1,500 for temporary housing at local hotels/motels

Qualifying CDL training providers must offer a four-week accelerated program, conduct on-site CDL testing, and be located within 75 miles of Asheville

Department of Commerce required to partner with local employers and construction firms to connect graduates with disaster recovery and rebuilding jobs

Appropriates $2,500,000 in nonrecurring General Fund money to the Department of Commerce for fiscal year 2025-2026, effective July 1, 2025
