Removes state-mandated school calendar restrictions that currently require opening no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing no later than the Friday closest to June 11

Grants local boards of education full authority to determine their own school opening and closing dates

Eliminates the State Board of Education waiver process that previously allowed earlier start dates (Monday closest to August 19) only upon showing "good cause" such as 8+ weather-related closures in 4 of the last 10 years

Removes the exemption for modified calendar schools that had been grandfathered from the 2003-2004 school year

Effective upon becoming law, applying beginning with the 2025-2026 school year
