Wake County Schools would be authorized to align their school calendar with local community college calendars, bypassing state-mandated opening and closing dates

Current state law requires non-year-round schools to open no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and close no later than the Friday closest to June 11

Amends G.S. 115C-84.2(d) to add an exception allowing local boards to match community college schedules serving their city or county

Applies exclusively to Wake County Schools and takes effect for the 2025-2026 school year
