Chatham County Schools may open as early as the Monday closest to August 10, rather than the statewide requirement of the Monday closest to August 26

Eliminates the State Board of Education waiver process that previously allowed districts to start as early as August 19 upon showing "good cause" (such as frequent weather-related closures)

School districts with calendars ending fall semester before December 31 may administer state assessments prior to the semester's conclusion

Applies exclusively to Chatham County Schools, effective for the 2025-2026 school year
