Center for Safer Schools must develop and maintain an interactive presentation covering legal, medical, and emotional consequences of youth gun possession, substance abuse, gun violence, and gun safety for 7th and 9th grade students

All local school administrative units are required to provide the presentation to students in grades 7 and 9, with other public school units able to participate voluntarily

Parents must receive notice at least 14 days before the presentation and be given the opportunity to opt their student out

$900,000 in recurring funds appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to support training and materials

Effective July 1, 2025, with implementation beginning in the 2026-2027 school year
