Zoning regulations must permit public school buildings in commercial zones, either by right or through special use permit, for schools under control of public school units

Landowners with property spanning multiple local government jurisdictions may elect to follow the planning and development regulations of the government where the majority of their land acreage is located

Municipal extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) authority is eliminated on a phased schedule: October 1, 2026 for counties with population 25,000 or less, and October 1, 2027 for counties between 25,001 and 50,000 population

Cities are frozen from expanding ETJ beyond their June 1, 2025 boundaries, and must provide counties 180-day notice before jurisdiction transfer including boundary maps, existing land use regulations, pending amendment requests, and vested rights information
