Failure to yield right-of-way to a pedestrian resulting in serious injury becomes a Class 2 misdemeanor, effective December 1, 2025

Division of Motor Vehicles must develop or identify training courses on pedestrian right-of-way requirements, in addition to existing highway work zone safety training

Training courses must be accessible to the public both in-person and online, with a method to demonstrate successful completion

Driver education curriculum must incorporate DMV-developed pedestrian safety training beginning with the 2026-2027 school year

DMV and Department of Public Instruction must study and report on improving driver education pedestrian safety instruction by January 1, 2026
