Teachers must notify the principal if they know or have reason to believe a student is using, possessing, or delivering alcohol or controlled substances on school property, during school-related activities, or at school-sponsored events.

The notification requirement does not apply to teachers or administrators who participate in juvenile drug court programs and receive confidential information about students through that program participation.

Teachers and school employees retain the right to report any violations of law to law enforcement agencies regardless of the notification requirements in this section.
