ND HB1244

Adds a new section to chapter 4-01 of the North Dakota Century Code regarding equine slaughter establishments.

Requires the agriculture commissioner to monitor federal statutory and regulatory actions related to the slaughter of horses, mules, and other equines.

Authorizes the agriculture commissioner to pursue or support federal legislative, regulatory, or contractual avenues to allow equine slaughter and processing in North Dakota.

Eliminates the federal restriction requiring equine slaughter and processing to be conducted in separate establishments from those processing cattle, sheep, swine, or goats.
