State residents age 65 and older may attend undergraduate courses for credit or audit at North Dakota higher education institutions without paying tuition or fees, and without meeting standard academic admissions requirements.

The tuition-free attendance benefit does not apply to online courses or classes.

Regularly admitted students must receive priority enrollment in courses with maximum capacity limits over these mature students.

Students who successfully complete courses taken for credit under this program receive academic credit from the institution.

Institutions may not hire additional staff or expand course offerings based solely on interest from these mature students, and must track them separately in student accounting rather than including them in other student counts.
