North Dakota national guard is authorized to pay medical expenses for members called to state active duty who sustain injuries or illnesses occurring within the line of duty.

Medical expense reimbursement applies only when the injury or illness is not covered by workforce safety and insurance and occurs while member is on state active duty.

Reimbursement covers only costs not paid by other health insurance policies.

Coverage of qualifying medical expenses is subject to rules established by the office of the adjutant general and availability of funds.

Bill is declared an emergency measure; passed by Senate 46-0-1 and House 88-0-6.
