SB 2337 Summary

• Governor shall contract with a private third party experienced in long-range planning during the 2011-13 and 2013-15 bienniums to assist with initiative duties.

• Governor must conduct at least thirty public meetings across the state during the 2011-12 interim to gather economic, social, and cultural information from citizens and stakeholders for a twenty-year state plan.

• Governor shall work with state agencies to develop a twenty-year strategic plan focused on transitioning from one-time mineral harvest extraction to sustainable, lasting harvest of North Dakota resources and entrepreneurship.

• Twenty-year plan must consider how to utilize the North Dakota legacy fund to support long-term development and infrastructure maintenance and improvement.

• Governor shall work with state agencies to institutionalize the plan, develop a legislative proposal for implementation, and conduct ongoing review and revision of the plan based on identified strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
