Each school district and nonpublic school sponsoring athletic activities must implement a concussion management program that clearly describes concussion signs and symptoms.

Students must be removed from practice, training, or competition if they report concussion symptoms, if officials/coaches/athletic trainers observe symptoms, or if a health care provider determines they may have a concussion.

Any removed student must be evaluated as soon as practicable by a licensed, registered, or certified health care provider trained in concussion evaluation and management.

Students believed to have suffered a concussion cannot return to athletic participation until authorized in writing by a health care provider meeting the criteria in the law; authorization must be retained for seven years.

Officials, coaches, and designated individuals responsible for students during athletics must receive biennial training on concussion nature and risks, and students and parents must document viewing concussion information before participation.
