HB 1039 Summary

• Department of Human Services shall develop and implement a voucher program for up to 100 individuals with autism spectrum disorder up to age 26 and up to 50 individuals aged 26 and older

• Eligible applicants must have been North Dakota residents for at least 6 months, have income not exceeding 300% of federal poverty level, and have a clinician's diagnosis of autism, Asperger's syndrome, or pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified

• Eligible services for individuals under 26 include assessments, medical care, mental health services, occupational therapy, speech and language services, assistive technology, case management, transportation, educational supports, respite care, and behavioral intervention plan development

• Eligible services for individuals 26 and older include assessments, medical care, mental health services, occupational therapy, educational and employment services, housing, transportation, and independent living services

• Appropriates $4,500,000 from the general fund to the Department of Human Services for the biennium July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015, with up to $30,000 allocated per year to each enrolled individual for eligible services
