HB 1092 Summary

• Allows the Board of Examiners on Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology to adopt rules establishing licensure requirements for out-of-state audiologists and speech-language pathologists who hold current licenses in good standing and have no pending disciplinary actions.

• Permits the board to waive examination requirements for out-of-state applicants meeting board-established requirements and to consider education and experience toward meeting education requirements.

• Modifies audiologist licensure to require at least a master's or doctorate degree in audiology (previously master's only).

• Increases speech-language pathologist board members from three to four, reducing hearing aid specialist representation from one to zero, while maintaining two audiologists, one otolaryngologist, and one consumer member.

• Board composition change becomes effective July 1, 2014.
