Amends North Dakota Century Code section 65-01-02 to modify the definition of compensable injuries related to preexisting conditions.

Excludes injuries attributable to preexisting injuries, diseases, or conditions from workers' compensation coverage unless employment substantially accelerates progression or substantially worsens severity.

Specifies that pain is a symptom that may be considered when determining substantial acceleration or worsening, but pain alone does not constitute substantial acceleration or worsening.

Applies retroactively to all workers' compensation claims regardless of the date of injury.

Passed the House 65-28 and the Senate 27-19 during the 2013 regular session.
