Counties, cities, and townships are prohibited from imposing restrictions or prohibitions on political signs placed on private property during the period beginning 90 days before any primary, general, or special election and ending 30 days after such election.

Counties, cities, and townships may limit the size of political signs in residential-zoned areas to a maximum of 40 square feet (3.72 square meters).

The bill applies to home rule counties and home rule cities in addition to standard counties and cities.

Political signs are defined according to North Dakota Century Code section 24-17-02.

Applies to primary, general, and special elections.
