Applicants for physical therapist or physical therapist assistant licenses must be of good moral character, complete the application process, graduate from an accredited physical therapy education program, and pass the board-approved examination.

Physical therapist assistants may work under the supervision of a physical therapist and may document care provided without the supervising physical therapist's cosignature.

Physical therapy aides may work on designated routine tasks under direct onsite supervision of a physical therapist present in the facility.

Onsite supervision of physical therapy aides may be extended to offsite supervision only when the aide is accompanying and working directly with a physical therapist assistant with a specific patient or performing non-patient-related tasks.

The act is declared an emergency measure.
