Parents enrolling children in approved nonpublic schools must file a form with their school district superintendent by September 10 each year to meet compulsory attendance requirements.

School districts may contract with approved nonpublic schools to provide educational services, with payment not to exceed 25 percent of the district's educational cost per student.

The superintendent of public instruction develops the notification form, consolidates district contractual obligations, and forwards payments directly to contracted nonpublic schools.

The superintendent of public instruction must publish annual electronic reports listing the number of contracts by district, contract costs by district, and the cost that would have been incurred if districts provided services directly.

School districts may only contract with nonpublic schools that are exempt from federal income taxes.
