Amends the definition of "law enforcement officer" under North Dakota Century Code section 65-01-15.1 for workforce safety and insurance purposes to include parks and recreation department employees pursuant to section 55-08-04.

Expands the list of employers whose full-time, peace officer-licensed employees qualify as law enforcement officers to include the bureau of criminal investigation, game and fish department, state highway patrol, parole and probation division, North Dakota state university police department, North Dakota state college of science police department, university of North Dakota police department, county sheriff's departments, city police departments, and parks and recreation department.

Applies only to injuries or conditions initially occurring on or after July 1, 2013, and to expenses related to those injuries and conditions.

Becomes effective July 1, 2013, and is declared an emergency measure.

Passed the Senate 44-0 with 3 absent and the House 88-4 with 2 absent.
