Public utilities must provide notice to customers before discontinuing electric or natural gas service for payment delinquency, in accordance with commission rules.

Customers may designate a third party to receive notice of service discontinuation on a utility-provided form.

Utilities must provide notice to designated third parties at least 5 days before discontinuance if sent by mail or at least 3 days before discontinuance if sent electronically.

Public utilities are granted immunity from civil liability for failing to provide notice or providing incorrect notice to a third party.
