Appropriates $3,000,000 from the general fund to the superintendent of public instruction for school district safety grants during the biennium July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015.

Each eligible school district receives $10,000 plus a pro rata share of remaining funds calculated by average daily membership.

Authorized expenditures include purchase, installation, and maintenance of alarms, cameras, electronic door locks, emergency response buttons, intercom systems, key cards, metal detectors, and similar safety equipment; excludes personnel costs and security service contracts.

Eligible districts must provide an equal monetary match for grant funds received and have general fund balance not exceeding 25% of total general fund expenditures as of June 30, 2013.

School districts must submit documentation by June 30, 2016 demonstrating appropriate expenditure of funds.
