Requires the commissioner of university and school lands to assist the director of the state historical society in surveying all lands described in section 15-01-02 for cultural resources and creating an inventory to catalog those resources.

Mandates the director of the state historical society to survey all lands described in section 15-01-02 for the presence of cultural resources as defined in section 55-03-00.1 and create and maintain an inventory of those resources.

Directs the director to involve students enrolled in North Dakota institutions of higher education in conducting the surveys to the extent feasible.

Requires the director to initially focus survey efforts on areas subject to imminent development or impact.
