Legislative management shall study issues related to criminal defendants who are veterans or currently serving in the armed forces during the 2015-16 interim period

Study shall examine whether additional treatment and sentencing options should be available for defendants suspected of having posttraumatic stress disorder or other behavioral health conditions

Study shall determine whether such options should apply to both misdemeanor and felony offenses and assess the impact on courts and the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation

Study shall identify the appropriate point in criminal proceedings to inquire about defendant behavioral health conditions and review how other states' judicial systems address similar issues

Legislative management shall report findings, recommendations, and any required legislation to the sixty-fifth legislative assembly
