HB1315 Summary

• Allows school boards to increase compensation for vacant teaching positions when unable to fill them with qualified candidates and the vacancy would violate school approval requirements under section 15.1-06-06.

• Requires boards to notify the superintendent of public instruction of the vacancy and demonstrate that all reasonable efforts to fill the position have been unsuccessful before seeking authorization for higher compensation.

• Compensation increases authorized under this section cannot be reduced in future years for the hired individual.

• Individuals who recently resigned from a teaching position or taught in North Dakota within the preceding twelve months are ineligible for compensation above the district's negotiated agreement.

• Applies to contracts negotiated under this chapter that take effect after July 31, 2007.
