School district superintendents must immediately dismiss students and cancel all school functions when a county sheriff notifies them that rural roads used for student transportation are under a no travel advisory and weather conditions are likely to deteriorate.

Schools must make every effort to reschedule classes so students receive the full number of instructional days required by law when closures occur due to severe weather or other emergency conditions.

Schools closed due to a county sheriff's notification under this Act are exempt from the requirement to reschedule classes to meet full instructional day requirements.

School districts experiencing undue hardship from rescheduling may request the governor waive the rescheduling requirement for purposes of state aid payment calculations.

Waivers must be granted for full days of instruction, but partial daily closures can be combined together to determine the number of additional full days that may be waived.
