Master electrician applicants must complete one year of experience as a licensed journeyman electrician.

Journeyman electrician applicants must complete 8,000 hours of electrical work experience over at least three years, or complete approved apprenticeship training or a board-approved two-year college course with 8,000 hours of experience.

Board-approved college education hours may be credited against the 8,000-hour experience requirement for journeymen.

Class B electrician applicants must complete 18 months of experience in farmstead or residential wiring.

The board shall adopt rules to provide credit for military service, training, or education toward electrician's license requirements upon submission of a DD Form 214 and DD Form 2586.
