HB 1470 Summary

• Amends North Dakota Century Code section 15.1-07-20 regarding requirements for school vehicle drivers who do not require a commercial driver's license
• School vehicle drivers must hold a North Dakota driver's license, be free from communicable diseases, be in good physical health with normal use of both hands, feet, eyes, and ears, be of sound mental health, pass drug and alcohol screening tests, and be at least 21 years old (unless school board determines otherwise)
• Drivers of school vehicles designed to seat 10-15 passengers must meet the physical and medical requirements established for commercial vehicle drivers and complete any annual training required by the superintendent of public instruction
• School district boards may request health care professional examinations at any time to verify drivers meet physical and medical requirements
• Examination costs are billed to the individual's insurance carrier first, with any remaining costs being the responsibility of the school board
