North Dakota urges Congress to authorize a compact agreement among 14 Western States Transportation Alliance member states (Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming) to lift the federal freeze on commercial vehicle weight and size limitations imposed in 1991.

The proposed compact agreement would allow voluntarily participating states to adopt routes and set restrictions on commercial vehicle operations.

Participating states would set commercial vehicle weight limits not to exceed 129,000 pounds gross vehicle combination weight or 100 foot cargo carrying length.

The Western States Transportation Alliance approved the compact agreement resolution on November 17, 2014.

North Dakota's Secretary of State shall forward copies of this resolution to each member of the North Dakota Congressional Delegation.
