Qualified electors of North Dakota may serve as school district business managers, joining voting, serving as board members, and serving as election judges as permitted roles.

School district boards have all authority over selection, employment, suspension, and dismissal of business managers as specified in section 15.1-09-33.

Business managers must personally present all financial reports to the board, whether statutorily mandated or board-requested and whether written or oral.

School districts must permanently retain minutes of all school board meetings and retain payroll records and revenue/expenditure records for five years unless otherwise required by law.

School districts may consult with the state archivist before disposing of records to determine archival value.

Sections 21-06-05 and 21-06-06 of the North Dakota Century Code relating to destruction of school district documents are repealed.
