Multiple prime bids for general, electrical, and mechanical portions of projects exceeding the threshold under section 48-01.2-02.1 are required, unless the project exceeds the threshold and is under five million dollars.

Governing bodies may allow a single prime bid instead of multiple prime bids for projects exceeding the threshold but under five million dollars.

Contracts estimated at less than twenty-five percent of the threshold may be included in one of the other prime contracts.

Governing bodies may allow submission of a single prime bid for the complete project or bids for specialized portions of the project.

A governing body may not accept a single prime bid unless that bid is lower than the combined total of the lowest responsible multiple bids for the project.
