SB 2304 Summary

• Office of Management and Budget shall procure architect and engineering services for designing a new governor's residence that includes space for meetings and events, with at least three preliminary designs presented to the capitol grounds planning commission.

• $4,000,000 from the capitol building fund and $1,000,000 from private donations (total $5,000,000) appropriated to the Office of Management and Budget for demolition of the existing residence, design, construction of new residence, and fixtures and furniture for the biennium July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2017.

• Construction cannot begin until the capitol grounds planning commission certifies that at least $500,000 in cash donations have been received and placed in the capitol building fund.

• $50,000 appropriated from the general fund to the governor's office for temporary housing expenses during demolition and construction, designated as one-time funding that cannot be repurposed.

• A fundraising task force appointed by the Friends of the Residence and capitol grounds planning commission shall coordinate volunteer fundraising, with all donations deposited in a dedicated account and transferred to the capitol building account upon request.
