HB 1169 Summary

• Allows individuals to carry concealed firearms without a permit if they have possessed a valid driver's license or nondriver identification card for at least one year and are not otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms.

• Requires individuals carrying concealed firearms under this authority to inform law enforcement officers of the concealed weapon upon initiation of any traffic stop or in-person law enforcement contact.

• Requires individuals carrying concealed firearms to carry and present a valid driver's license, nondriver identification card, or digital image thereof on a mobile device upon demand by law enforcement.

• Maintains existing requirement that individuals carrying concealed firearms under traditional licensing authority must have their license on their person and produce it to law enforcement upon demand.
