Chief brand inspectors and deputy brand inspectors employed by the North Dakota stockmen's association must be licensed peace officers under chapter 12-63 or hold a limited peace officer license.

Licensed brand inspectors may exercise full authority of their peace officer license to enforce brand laws and other state laws relating to livestock.

Establishes a uniform complaint and summons form that brand inspectors who are licensed peace officers may use for violations of livestock laws or other state law violations.

Specified court appearance time in a summons must be at least five days after issuance unless the defendant demands an earlier hearing.

Defendants who sign a written promise to appear must be released from custody and given a copy of the uniform complaint and summons; failure to appear allows the court to issue an arrest warrant.
