House Bill No. 1342 - Beekeeping

• Agriculture commissioner may suspend, revoke, or refuse a beekeeping license for repeated violations, failure to pay civil penalties within 30 days, or providing false information on applications.

• Beekeepers must identify each apiary with a three-digit identification number (at least 3 inches high) on the uppermost hive box and display the beekeeper's name and phone number (at least 1.5 inches high) at the apiary's main entrance, both weather-resistant.

• Apiaries that fail to meet identification requirements may be seized by the agriculture commissioner.

• Agriculture commissioner or law enforcement may confiscate bees, hives, or beekeeping equipment found in violation of beekeeping regulations, with disposal occurring by court or administrative order unless the beekeeper claims the property and pays all related costs and civil penalties.

• Persons denied a license may request a hearing before the commissioner within 30 days of denial.
