Amends North Dakota Century Code section 44-02-02 to clarify procedures for officer resignations across state and local government positions.

Resignations must be submitted in writing to specified recipients based on position type: the legislative assembly for governor/lieutenant governor, the governor for other state officers, and respective boards or administrative officials for local officers.

School board members must submit resignations to the business manager of the district.

County auditor resignations must be filed with the board of county commissioners rather than the county auditor's office.

Passed the Senate 44-0 and House 91-0 in the 2017 regular session.
