Highway improvement contracts exceeding $100,000 require county commissioners to seek bids through newspaper advertisements published weekly for two consecutive weeks, with first publication at least 15 days before bid opening.

Contracts exceeding $50,000 but not exceeding $100,000 require the county to seek quotes from at least two contractors when possible.

County road machinery rental contracts are limited to 12 months and cannot exceed 20 percent annual rental rate of the equipment's cash sale price; cash sale price must be clearly stated in rental agreements or the contract is void.

Lease-purchase agreements for road machinery are permitted if the complete purchase price is paid within seven years from the execution date, in accordance with section 44-08-01.1.

Section 24-05-04.2 of the North Dakota Century Code is repealed, and bid awards must follow the procedure in section 48-01.2-07, requiring contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder.
