SB 2343 Summary

• Consolidates and restructures campaign disclosure reporting requirements for candidates, political committees, political parties, and measure committees into new standardized reporting sections effective February 1, 2018.

• Establishes pre-election statements (due 31 days before elections), supplemental statements (within 48 hours of large contributions over $500), and year-end statements (by February 1) with $200 thresholds for detailed contribution/expenditure reporting.

• Requires separate disclosure of contributions exceeding $5,000 from individuals with their occupation, employer, and principal place of business for all filers except judicial, county, and city office candidates.

• Prohibits candidates from using campaign contributions for personal benefits, loans to others, overpaying for goods/services, or paying criminal fines or civil penalties.

• Requires state political parties to maintain separate building funds for donations designated for property purchases/maintenance and file annual statements with fund activity details.
