HB 1272 Summary

• Expands the definition of "health care provider" to include physician assistants and naturopaths, in addition to physicians and advanced practice registered nurses.

• Adds new debilitating medical conditions eligible for medical marijuana use: Tourette syndrome, autism, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and anxiety disorder.

• Adds specific diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (2013).

• Removes the requirement that written certifications specifically authorize the use of dried leaves or flowers in combustible form, instead allowing health care providers to make this determination separately.

• Allows out-of-state medical marijuana registry identification cards issued by other states to have the same force and effect as North Dakota cards.
