State board of higher education administers a senior year tuition waiver program for North Dakota residents who graduated from North Dakota high schools or completed supervised home education programs.

Four-year institution students receive tuition waivers for up to two semesters while designated as seniors; two-year degree students receive waivers for their final semester; certificate program students receive 25 percent tuition waivers.

Waiver amounts equal the tuition owed minus any scholarships, grants, or other waivers the student already receives, with students applying only once to receive their full waiver.

Students cannot receive more than one tuition waiver under the program, and waivers do not apply to coursework from which the student withdraws or receives a failing grade.

Bank of North Dakota transfers funds equal to total tuition waived from its undivided profits to the state board of higher education each semester, which then reimburses institutions for the waiver costs.
