HB 1325 Summary

• Makes knowingly possessing a firearm or dangerous weapon at a public gathering (athletic/sporting events, schools, churches, publicly owned buildings) a Class B misdemeanor

• Exempts law enforcement officers, military/national guard members on duty, sport shooting competitors, gun shows, security personnel, hunters in safety classes, and individuals with valid concealed weapons licenses approved by religious leaders in churches

• Allows storage of firearms in state or political subdivision residential buildings with consent from the building management and provided the firearm is stored in the individual's assigned residential unit

• Permits political subdivisions to enact ordinances less restrictive than state law on firearm possession at public gatherings, with local ordinances superseding state law in their jurisdiction

• Grants liability immunity to churches or places of worship for injuries, deaths, or property damage caused by individuals carrying concealed weapons under approved provisions
