Law enforcement officers and paid full-time firefighters employed by political subdivisions may form, join, and participate in representative organizations of their choosing for employer-employee relations matters, with membership remaining voluntary.

Elected law enforcement officers and volunteer firefighters are excluded from these collective bargaining provisions.

Representative organizations may negotiate with governing bodies on terms and conditions of employment, employer-employee relations, contract formation (including binding arbitration provisions), and contract interpretation.

Governing bodies and representative organizations must meet at reasonable times and negotiate in good faith when requested by either party.

Law enforcement officers and paid full-time firefighters are prohibited from participating in strikes.
