Physicians licensed in good standing in another state are exempt from North Dakota licensure requirements if they have a written or oral agreement with a sports team to provide care to team members and coaching staff at a specific sporting event in North Dakota.

Physicians invited by a national sport governing body to provide services at a national sport training center or sanctioned events in North Dakota are exempt if their practice is limited to services required by the governing body and within their scope of practice.

Sports team physician exemptions are valid for a maximum of 10 days per sporting event, with the option to apply to the board for an additional 20-day exemption per event.

Exempt physicians may not provide care to individuals other than those specified in the agreement or at national governing body events, and cannot practice at licensed health care facilities in North Dakota.

The North Dakota medical licensing board may adopt rules to implement this section and may enter agreements with other states' medical boards to report potential license violations.
