Nonresidents must obtain a nonresident waterfowl hunting license to hunt waterfowl in North Dakota, with exceptions for crane hunting which also allows a small game license.

License options allow hunting for fourteen consecutive days, two seven-day periods, or three four-day periods, with statewide licenses permitting hunting in any zone.

For fourteen-day and two seven-day licenses, $40 of the fee must fund the private land open to sportsmen program; for three four-day licenses, $50 of the fee must fund that program.

Nonresident waterfowl hunting licenses cost $100, except three four-day period licenses cost $200.

Nonresidents may purchase only one waterfowl hunting license per year, and hunting period restrictions do not apply during early Canada goose season.
