Senate Bill No. 2204 Summary

• Creates a Commission on Children's Health and Well-Being composed of three House members, three Senate members, and representatives from executive agencies, courts, and community organizations appointed by the governor.

• Governor designates one commission member as presiding officer and provides staffing through the governor's office; commission members serve two-year terms (excluding ex officio members).

• Commission shall meet at least four times per year and must gather information on children's welfare issues including education, abuse, and neglect; receive reports from agencies and organizations; and promote effective intervention and resources for children.

• Commission must annually submit findings and recommendations to the governor and legislative management, which may include legislative strategy to implement the recommendations.
