Beginning July 1, 2022, each public school district must include a patriotism project in its curriculum, which may be integrated into existing courses.

Every elementary student enrolled in a public school district must complete at least one patriotism project during elementary school, defined as a student-led action on a community issue of the student's choice requiring research and documentation.

The superintendent of public instruction shall provide guidance on quality standards, may seek assistance from third parties for professional development, and school districts may accept monetary donations from veterans' organizations and civic groups to support the curriculum.

Each school district must provide assurance of patriotism project completion to the superintendent of public instruction through the shared student information system.

The superintendent of public instruction shall report annually to the governor and legislative management regarding compliance and may provide examples of patriotism projects implemented in school districts.
