School districts with board members serving four-year terms must hold elections only in even-numbered years, scheduled for the second Tuesday in June in conjunction with the primary election.

In odd-numbered years, school district elections must be held between April 1 and June 30.

School boards may hold elections in conjunction with city elections and share election costs and responsibilities, including election personnel, materials printing, legal notices, and poll books.

When only one set of poll books is used in a joint city-school district election, the books must indicate voter eligibility for the city election, school district election, or both.

School districts may share election expenses with county governments when elections are held in conjunction with primary elections, and must notify the county auditor in writing at least 64 days before the election.
