SB 2208 Summary

• Directs the legislative management to study state water regulation during the 2021-22 interim, including chapters 61-16.1, 61-21, and 61-32, with findings and recommendations due to the sixty-eighth legislative assembly

• Authorizes study of uniform assessment procedures for water projects, appeals processes for water resource board decisions, watershed-based water management, culvert sizing responsibility, cost-benefit analyses, irrigation permit procedures, and well water level monitoring

• Establishes a 20-member study committee consisting of 11 voting members (2 agriculture producers, 2 water resource board members, and 7 legislators/road superintendent) and 9 nonvoting members from state agencies and interested associations

• Provides reimbursement for mileage and expenses for non-state employee committee members and per diem compensation for legislative members, to be paid by the legislative council

• Passed unanimously with Senate vote of 47-0 and House vote of 94-0
